Telefónica Tech's SIA Essentials report 2024

The new SIA Essentials report by Telefónica Tech analyzes the current cyber threat landscape in Spain, its impact on businesses, and how our cybersecurity solutions help protect mobile users from risks such as ransomware, phishing, and malicious bots.

The report also details how the service has evolved through December 2024 and the top threats intercepted. Analyzing its performance, SIA Essentials has blocked more than 1.857 billion cyberthreats since the service began, including:

  • 96% of Spanish companies experienced at least one cyberattack in 2024.
  • 60% of affected SMEs reported significant losses that jeopardized their continuity.
  • Spain remained one of the most targeted countries worldwide, with an average cost per data breach of $4.88 million.

To address this scenario, Telefónica Tech offers SIA Essentials, a cybersecurity service that operates at the network level, analyzing DNS traffic to detect and block threats — with no need to install software on the device. All that’s required is a compatible mobile plan.

The report also details how the service evolved throughout 2024 and the main threats it intercepted. Just last year, SIA Essentials blocked more than 1.857 billion cyber threats, including:

  • Malware: 1.683 billion malicious access attempts blocked.
  • Bots: 128 million automated attacks intercepted.
  • Phishing: Over 45 million fraud attempts stopped.
