The new SIA Essentials report by Telefónica Tech on the 2025 threat landscape confirms a clear trend: cyber risk continues to grow and evolve into increasingly sophisticated models.
The expansion of cloud environments, hybrid work, and the rise in connected devices have widened the attack surface, creating a scenario where attacks are increasingly focused on the user, through techniques such as advanced phishing and botnet activity.
Some of the key findings from the report:
- Cyberattacks in Spain increased by 35% in 2025, compared to a 2024 landscape where 96% of companies had already experienced at least one attack.
- 4 out of 10 companies experienced cybersecurity incidents in 2025, reinforcing a scenario where impact was already widespread in 2024, especially among SMEs.
- 59% of organizations reported significant financial impact, in line with 2024, when 60% of affected SMEs suffered severe losses.
- Ransomware remains one of the most critical threats, continuing its trajectory from 2024 as a key risk to business continuity.
