We're digitizing Santiago de Compostela's lighting system to enhance efficiency and service management

The consortium formed by Ferrovial and Endesa X has selected us as their technological partner for the digitization of the public lighting system in Santiago de Compostela.

In this project, in collaboration with Tellink, we will implement our smart lighting solution. This will allow for individual remote management of the new luminaires in the Galician capital. This initiative will achieve efficiency improvements and energy savings for the city. In addition, it will optimize maintenance tasks and provide better lighting services for citizens.

As part of our smart lighting solution, we will install over 10,000 nodes on municipality lampposts. These nodes, designed and manufactured by Tellink, connect through Telefónica Tech's NB-IoT network. Our NB-IoT connectivity enhances Smart Cities, a concept that optimizes urban service management, reduces energy consumption, improves mobility, and promotes efficient and sustainable city resource administration.

This enables real-time luminaire operation monitoring, reporting potential faults, and sending collected information to an advanced software platform for analysis and management. Among other functionalities, it allows remote control of lamppost on/off switching. It also allows for adjustment of light intensity levels according to specific needs and circumstances, and even customization of lighting for special events.
