We are kicking off Cybersecurity Month by focusing on one of the major challenges facing our digital environment: cyber threats. Throughout the month, we will explore how they evolve, how they affect organisations and, above all, how we can identify them so that we are better prepared.

Cyber threats are evolving at the same pace as our digital environment. Alongside well-known attacks such as phishing, ransomware and credential theft, new entry points are emerging through vulnerabilities, cloud services, third parties and digital identities. The more connected we are, the more ways there are to reach us.

Phishing remains one of the main forms of deception, but it is no longer limited to email. SMS messages, phone calls, social media and QR codes can all be used to make us trust a message that appears legitimate. At the same time, attackers exploit vulnerabilities, compromised credentials and techniques such as ransomware and DDoS attacks to gain access to systems or disrupt services.

Artificial intelligence is adding a new layer to this landscape. It enables attackers to create more convincing messages, tailor attacks to individual victims and automate certain tasks, while models, data, applications and agents are also becoming part of the attack surface we need to protect. Understanding this map is the first step towards protecting it.
