Yesterday at Telefónica District, in Madrid, our CEO José Cerdán received from Lego Spain a scale reproduction of the Telefónica Building at Gran Vía 28, constructed in 1926 and our company's original headquarters.
In his gratitude to Vincent Plane, Country Manager of Lego Spain, José Cerdán, CEO of Telefónica Tech, declared that "from today, Telefónica District houses the tallest Lego in Spain, strengthening the bond with our origins and our company's legacy."

This piece brings together the emblematic building, where it all began 100 years ago, with the current operational headquarters of the company in Las Tablas, Madrid. As Cerdán pointed out, "Gran Vía 28 was the first skyscraper built in Europe, the tallest building on the continent, and an architectural landmark. And now we will celebrate our centenary with the tallest Lego construction in Spain, and one of the largest in the world."

The replica, handcrafted by Georg Schmitt, Lego's official assembler, uses over 264,000 pieces to reproduce at 1:50 scale this representation of the Telefónica Building, which measures 2.70 meters in height and weighs over 380 kilograms (838 lbs.).
