We participated in 5G Forum 2024, “Where 5G leaders meet”, the multidisciplinary meeting on 5G technology held from 6 to 10 May 2024 in Seville, Spain. With an annual character, and with more than 530 professionals confirmed in this edition, this congress makes visible the advances of 5G technology from a panoramic and transversal vision to many verticals, such as Smart cities, connected cars, health and telemedicine, smart tourism, among others.
From the Telefónica de España team, we were present in the exhibition area with live demos of the NaaS-6G project on the exhibition of predictive and real-time analytics of the 5G network via NWDAF, we showed the latest technology of robot dogs and 6G use cases in Andalusia. On the agenda, participated as speakers:
- Monday, May 6, from 11:15 a.m. to 11:35 a.m.: Session “5G today and 5G tomorrow. Vision of a Centennial Company”. Juan Cambeiro, Head of 5G projects with customers and Ángel Álamo, Head of LAN and 5G Marketing at Telefónica, reviewed the present and future of 5G and discussed the current state of development of 5G, as well as the “evolution and path” ahead for a technology that “will help to face many future challenges such as education, medicine, AI and industrial automation”. They also announced the most innovative features of 5G that will be seen throughout 2024.-
- Tuesday, May 7, from 10:50 am to 11:00 am: Session “Future Networks Lab projects in Andalusia”. David Artuñedo, Head of Future Networks Lab at Telefónica, presented the main research projects on future networks that Telefónica has underway in Andalusia, as well as their results.
- Wednesday, May 8, from 10:25 to 10:45 h: Session “Future trends and the value of mobile communications”, by Juan Cambeiro, Head of 5G projects.
From Telefónica Tech, we were present at the fifth and last day of the congress, to talk about the vertical of cyber security. In the interview, Sergio de los Santos, director of the Innovation and Labs Area at Telefónica Tech, spoke about 'More cyber-resilient organizations', about the challenges faced by organizations in terms of cybersecurity and how they can develop their business in a cyber-resilient way, with an appropriate strategy and partners. Sergio tells how “we have seen how attackers are more sophisticated and are quite likely to succeed in their attacks, no matter how secure an organization's cybersecurity is. For this reason, at Telefónica Tech we work a lot on recovery support, to minimize the repercussion and impact.”
