Telefónica digitalises Grupo Gallo’s internal logistics and enables the use of AI

We have designed and deployed a pilot project to digitalise Grupo Gallo’s internal logistics at its El Carpio plant (Córdoba), supporting the evolution of its industrial operations towards a more efficient, flexible and Industry 4.0-ready model. The initiative is built on a scalable digital architecture, enabled for the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which integrates the plant’s key systems into a unified environment.

The project focuses on the end-to-end modernisation of internal management and end-of-line systems, bringing together the management of automated guided vehicles (AGV), automatic palletising systems and the software layer that orchestrates these processes.

This way, through Geprom, part of Telefónica Tech, we have deployed seven more flexible and efficient AGVs at the plant and implemented a new fleet management platform based on Siemens technology, enabling centralised, flexible and multi-brand vehicle management. This solution optimises current operations and prepares the facility for future growth, including the integration of new vehicles, different manufacturers or advanced functionalities.

The project has also included the modernisation of fourteen end-of-line palletising stations, upgrading electronics, PLCs, industrial robot programming and the plant’s industrial network. This technological evolution strengthens operational reliability, process safety and the sustainability of internal logistics.

As a result of this modernisation, the plant now benefits from a digital foundation ready to progressively incorporate Industry 4.0 capabilities, such as data analytics, scenario simulation, digital twins and the use of artificial intelligence tools. This pilot project also establishes a replicable model for other Grupo Gallo plants, extending the benefits of digitalisation and technological readiness across the company.
