At Telefónica Tech and in collaboration with the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA) we announce the IMUs project, which utilizes inertial measurement devices to collect real-time data on athletes' biomechanics.
Elena Gil Lizasoain, our Global Director of Artificial Intelligence and Big Data, led the development of this project. This integrates wearable technology and data analysis to improve sports performance.
These small sensors capture real-time data related to athlete biomechanics, such as speed, acceleration, and movement. The collected information is stored on a Cloud platform and analyzed using artificial intelligence algorithms. This provides detailed information and insights that can be accessed at any time to adjust training sessions and competitions. The initiative not only benefits Spanish athletes and coaches but also establishes a model to be adopted by other sports federations and countries.
This collaboration between RFEA and Telefónica Tech demonstrates how our technology effectively applies in the sports field, paving the way for future initiatives aimed at improving sports performance.
"We are proud to be part of such an innovative project with the RFEA that will position the Spain brand in the global spotlight. It is an example that can be exported to other federations and countries," says Elena.
Furthermore, this project reinforces our ability to lead digital transformation projects in both the business and sports sectors. This showcases our commitment to innovation and digital solutions that add value to society.
