We connect more than 300,000 water meters for Emasesa

We share with you today that Telefónica Tech will connect more than 300,000 water meters for Emasesa, the Metropolitan Water Supply and Sanitation Company of Seville, in collaboration with Contazara.

This project is part of Emasesa's Strategic Digital Transformation Plan. Its goal is to enable remote, automatic, and accurate monitoring of water consumption through Telefónica Tech's NB-IoT network.

Over 100,000 homes have been connected since January, and 41,500 additional hubs are expected in the next two years. Up to seven water meters can be connected to each hub.

Our NB-IoT connectivity, which will transmit 7.5 million readings per day, and advanced analytics using Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, provide Emasesa with consumption data every hour. This improves management, detects network anomalies and improves service for users, which has a significant impact on sustainability, quality of service, and security.

This project aims to reduce water consumption to 90 liters per person per day, achieving an annual saving of 20%, which in 10 years would be equivalent to a reservoir.

We are providing Telefónica Tech's Smart Water solution to water management companies so they can be more efficient, sustainable, and offer a more personalized service.
