Telefónica Tech Workshop: Practical IoT solutions development at the University of Vigo

The Telefónica Chair at the University of Vigo is organizing the workshop “From Idea to Commercialization: Product Design and Business Model for IoT Solutions”, a hands-on training session where students will develop a complete IoT solution from the perspective of a B2B technology services company.

The workshop combines theory and practice to address both the technical and strategic aspects required in designing an IoT product, its business model, and its commercialization process. It will be led by the Innovation and New Business team at Telefónica Tech.

The activity will last three hours, have a limited capacity of 60 students, and registration is free. The teaching team will include professionals from Telefónica Tech and the University of Vigo.

The program covers an introduction to the IoT ecosystem, solution architecture, connectivity technologies, security, and real use cases, along with an example from the TheThinX lab. Students will work in teams to develop an IoT product using Lean Canvas, defining the business model, costs, and go-to-market strategy. The session will conclude with a startup pitch, where participants will present their proposals and receive feedback.
