Burriana needed to remotely manage its street lighting, with individual control, continuous monitoring, and optimised maintenance, as well as adapting light intensity to the town’s actual needs.
Telefónica Tech implemented the Smart Outdoor Lighting solution, deploying over 6,300 nodes manufactured by our partner Tellink, with NB-IoT connectivity on the town’s streetlights. This connectivity, ideal for large-scale deployments and providing coverage in hard-to-reach areas, enables data from each light to be transmitted to a platform for monitoring and remote control.
The solution makes it possible to adjust the intensity (reducing it in quiet areas or increasing it during events), monitor consumption and detect faults remotely and in advance, contributing to safety and sustainability by reducing light pollution, energy consumption and, consequently, the carbon footprint.

Highlights of the success story

Point-to-point remote management of luminaires

Real-time control of performance, operation and maintenance, with the ability to control each luminaire independently.

Optimised and proactive maintenance

Monitoring of consumption and remote, early detection of faults or breakdowns to minimise impact on the service.

Impact on sustainability and quality of life

Contributes to public security and reduces light pollution, energy consumption, and carbon footprint.

Dynamic light intensity control

Adjustment of lighting as required, lower intensity in areas with little footfall and higher during events with high attendance.

NB-IoT connectivity for large-scale deployments

Connectivity designed for large numbers of nodes and coverage in hard-to-reach areas, ensuring reliable data transmission.

What they say about us

"Tellink is proud that the joint venture (Ferrovial Energía and Endesa) has once again chosen Telefónica Tech and us for a large-scale deployment of Tellink TSmart-ZD4i smart lighting controllers and the remote management platform. These systems improve the quality of street lighting and reduce energy costs, helping the local authority to meet its sustainability targets".
