Collaborating with Leicestershire Police on digital forensics

At Telefónica Tech we are working with Leicestershire Police to enhance the digital forensic capabilities of the force serving Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.

Presented at MWC 2025 by Will Wilkinson (Telefónica Tech UK&I) and Anthony Jones (Leicestershire Police), the project aims to address the increase in digital elements in crimes, accounting for over 90% of cases according to municipal data.

Our comprehensive proposal covers the entire process of digital forensics, from the collection of digital evidence to the analysis of it, ensuring that proper practices are followed when handling an increase in devices and data. In the presentation, we demonstrated how this approach can transform and expedite investigations leveraging advanced technology, automation, and collaboration.

Through this partnership, new tools and techniques enable faster and more accurate analysis of digital evidence, which will speed up the resolution of cases related to digital crimes. Furthermore, it serves as a model for other jurisdictions interested in strengthening their digital forensic capabilities.
