We launch a platform for the smart management of water meters

At Telefónica, we are expanding our capabilities in the water sector with a new platform developed in-house for the smart management of water meters. This solution enables water management companies and local authorities to analyse water consumption data, monitor devices and detect potential irregularities at an early stage.

Our platform is compatible with meters from different manufacturers and provides a unified way to manage connected devices and their associated communications. It also integrates natively with our Kite platform for IoT connectivity, which operates across different network technologies and provides advanced security and automation capabilities to ensure a robust and scalable service.

Through secure access to the cloud platform, customers can access meter readings and historical consumption data, prepare consumption data for billing purposes, monitor device status, generate reports and set up alerts.

The solution includes features designed to detect potential leaks, unusual water consumption, missing meter readings, deviations from usual consumption patterns or potential meter tampering, helping operators respond more quickly to incidents.

It also enables remote management of devices, allowing users to remotely adjust operating parameters such as the frequency of data transmission or request new readings, thereby reducing the need for on-site interventions.
