The ISBE blockchain network goes live with a transparent, distributed technical deployment

José Luis Núñez, Global Head of Blockchain and Web3 at Telefónica Tech, alongside other representatives of the participating entities during ISBE’s technical launch.

Last week, we took part in the technical launch and go-live ceremony of ISBE, Spain’s national Blockchain infrastructure, promoted by the Community of Madrid and the Alastria consortium through the Regional Networks Programme for Technological Specialisation, part of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan funded by the European Union’s Next Generation EU initiative.

As part of this national initiative, we played an active role in implementing the technical protocol that gave rise to the network, applying strict criteria of decentralisation, interoperability and transparency.

Held on December 18th, the event marked the operational launch of ISBE through the distributed generation of master keys and the creation of the genesis block. Together with other technology partners, we executed a critical technical process involving Shamir’s Secret Sharing, ensuring that no single participant can assume unilateral control over the network.

European regulatory alignment (eIDAS2)

The ISBE infrastructure is aligned with the new European eIDAS2 regulation on qualified electronic ledgers, positioning ISBE as a potential candidate to become the first Blockchain network with legal and cross-border recognition in Europe.

This participation strengthens our commitment to building trustworthy digital infrastructures. In this way, through Telefónica Tech, we contribute to the creation of an interoperable, secure and auditable environment on which companies and public administrations can innovate, relying on a shared foundation of technological trust, verification and regulatory compliance.
