Telefónica Tech has been recognized by the WEF for its cyber security initiatives, which include training more than 15,000 people and running programs to promote digital talent.
The World Economic Forum (WEF) report “Growing Cyber Talent Through Public–Private Partnerships” presents us as an example of public-private collaboration in cyber security, highlighting some of our training and awareness initiatives that have brought digital protection to thousands of people.
The document highlights the impact of more than 600 sessions held, with more than 15,000 participants, as well as outreach campaigns and innovative projects that have enabled both young people and seniors to be trained and access key cyber security knowledge in response to challenges. It also highlights the organization of the annual Girls' Talent in Cyber security event, designed to promote female vocations in the sector.
A talent gap to overcome
Cyber security has established itself as one of the most in-demand digital skills, and its development is key to closing the talent gap in the employment market. The WEF report notes that the global shortage of professionals in this field exceeds 2.8 million and that only 14% of companies have the necessary staff to achieve their security objectives.
Given this situation, the WEF highlights the role of private companies in providing technical talent, agility, and the ability to scale projects that public administrations would find difficult to deploy on their own.
Commitment to training and protection
Telefónica Tech is aware of this challenge and, since 2020, has strengthened its commitment by collaborating with local organizations to raise public awareness of cyber security and data protection, as well as to help public administrations prevent cyber threats and ensure regulatory compliance.
To this end, we provide advanced resources and tools, such as security information and event management (SIEM) systems, automated penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, digital surveillance, and consulting services in data protection and information security.
Public-private collaboration to generate opportunities
In this way, we reinforce our conviction that collaboration between companies and public administrations is essential to accelerate the development of skills, democratize access to cyber security, and generate new professional opportunities in a strategic area for the future.
