Repsol, a global multi-energy company, wanted to transform product management in its external finished product warehouses. The project aimed to optimize operations at Repsol's chemical plants, establishing efficient systems for the location, transportation, and delivery of products to end customers. Thanks to the combination of Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and data analytics, Repsol has automated complex logistical tasks, reduced storage and transportation costs (lower emissions), increased stock rotation, avoided waste associated with the age and possible deterioration of the stored product, and promoted sustainability.

Highlights of the success story

Data-Driven Organization

The advanced analysis of 29 million variables, has allowed Repsol to have a detailed and monitored vision of its logistics process and a better decision making based on data and in real time, which means a competitive advantage by optimizing processes and improving efficiency throughout the logistics chain.

Transforming Repsol into a data-driven organization

One of the key aspects of this case was the application of a component of the RAIP (Repsol Artificial Intelligence Products) platform. RAIP is a catalog of modular artificial intelligence solutions, developed internally at Repsol, which are aimed at transforming the company into a data driven organization. Thanks to RAIP's potential, Repsol has received support from Red.es to continue its development.

Increased operational efficiency and cost reduction

Thanks to the optimization of finished product transfer operations to external centers from chemical plants, transportation and storage costs have been significantly reduced, as well as the product's dwell time (higher stock turnover).

Technology with a positive impact on sustainability

Thanks to the implemented solution, not only the carbon footprint is reduced by reducing material transfers between internal and external warehouses, but also the generation of waste due to the higher turnover of finished products in external centers, which prevents their deterioration.

What others say about us

“We have succeeded in optimizing the logistics operations associated with the management of our chemical products with this project. Automation and digitalization have allowed us not only to improve efficiency and optimize the cost of stock management, but also to reduce the carbon footprint by reducing material transfers between internal and external warehouses.”
