At Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 we are presenting innovations in quantum security for open networks and IoT devices. In collaboration with Idemia Secure Transaction, we are demonstrating how post-quantum cryptography protects mobile communications in smart water, gas, and electricity meters through an eSIM architecture utilizing Quantum-Safe algorithms. This technology ensures secure operations and measurements, preserving privacy and preventing tampering.
A key highlight of this presentation is the ability to remotely update Quantum-Safe algorithms by applying crypto-agility. This feature allows adaptation to new vulnerabilities, ensuring secure communications at all times, particularly in IoT environments.
At Telefónica's booth (Hall 3, 3K31), we are showcasing the application of this technology in connecting IoT devices in critical environments, such as Halotech’s smart helmets. These devices use both classical and post-quantum algorithms to encrypt critical information, mitigating threats to information confidentiality.
The connectivity solution is managed through our Telefónica Tech's Kite platform, enabling users to monitor and control their devices in real-time and remotely from anywhere in the world. The incorporation of post-quantum cryptography adds an extra layer of security, protecting information from future quantum computing threats.
