We participated in the first air taxi drone flight in Europe

This week, the first air taxi flight in Europe took place in Benidorm. At Telefónica Tech, we provided the EH216-S air taxi from EHang with our IoT connectivity capabilities. This ensured reliable communications, low latency, high data transmission capacity, and security thanks to the SIM cards' encryption.

In addition, the demonstration used several Open Gateway APIs from Telefónica Digital Innovation:

• Population Density Data API to plan safe routes for drones considering population density.
• Dynamic Airspace Connectivity Data API assesses the quality of mobile network connectivity in airspace.
• Quality on Demand Mobile API ensures uninterrupted video transmission in situations of network congestion.

Within the framework of the U-elcome project, this demonstration lays the foundation for more connected and sustainable cities by safely integrating drones into urban environments.
