During the project, a prototype application based on Virtual Reality technology was developed for the teaching and dissemination of the architecture of Segovia through online virtual seminars. Thanks to 5G technology and Edge Computing combined with Virtual Reality, students can remotely connect to these seminars to interact with the teacher and the rest of the students, without having to be in the same physical classroom.

Highlights of the success story

Innovative tool for education

Accessible from low-end Virtual Reality devices combined with the learner's mobile phone with 5G.

Low latency

In Virtual Reality developments, it is essential to transfer the user's interactions to the virtual world immediately, in order to build fluid and therefore realistic experiences.

Enhanced learning experience

A more immersive and enjoyable space for the student, which is beneficial for good academic performance.

High-performance graphics rendering in our Edge Computing environment

In this way, Virtual Reality glasses are not involved in the graphics processing and cheaper, more basic models can be used, while maintaining the same quality of experience.

New teaching resources

Virtual Reality makes it possible to incorporate innovative teaching resources into the experience, such as a virtual blackboard, 360º videos or 3D spaces that can be walked through.

What others say about us

“The possibilities offered by Telefónica's education technology are immense. In the future, the learning environment developed through 5G will offer students and teachers incredible immersive experiences that will surely revolutionise teaching processes; in fact, at the present time we have been working on it at IE University."
