Smart CitiesNavantia is a leading company in the manufacture of high-tech ships. The company is committed to innovation. Together with Telefónica Tech, it has carried out three use cases of 5G and Edge Computing applied to ship repair and construction processes: providing remote technical assistance to maintenance officers through AR glasses, supporting the construction process of a ship and processing 3D scanning in real time. The deployment of 5G and the implementation of Edge Computing enable high-quality and immersive AR applications, due to low latency and high download speeds of 10Gb/s. In addition, it is possible to visualise the different parts to be built in each phase of the process on a real scenario, detecting possible design faults before construction.
